European_Citizenship_5.JPGTraining Modules on European Citizenship (2006)

"The training Module was excellent in every way and surpassed even our high expectations. Many of the participants are saying that it was the best week in their lives and they certainly seem to have built a special intelligent bond. (…)
I am sure that this course has given a powerful impetus to European Citizenship elements in the future activities of participants, and by extension, in the 24 countries they represented".

(Hazel Patterson, Action 5 Manager
UK National Agency - Connect Youth)

The training Modules in brief

In 2006, the Partnership implemented six training Modules on European Citizenship, which were hosted, co-organised and co-financed by six National Agencies of the YOUTH Programme of the European Commission.
These short-term Modules (5 days) aimed at supporting the professional development of youth workers and youth leaders by extending their competencies and by encouraging them to integrate elements of European citizenship within their daily projects and practice.

MODULE 1: "Institutions and Politics"  29 May – 4 June 2006, Budapest, Hungary
Hosted, co-organised and co-financed by the Hungarian National Agency (Mobilitás)

MODULE 2: "Visions and Concepts of Europe"  27 May – 2 June 2006, Bonn, Germany
Hosted, co-organised and co-financed by the German National Agency (JUGEND für Europa)

MODULE 3: "Citizenship"  4 – 10 September 2006, Bern, Switzerland
Hosted, co-organised and co-financed by the Swiss Coordination Office (Youth for
Europe)

MODULE 4: "Intercultural Learning"  25 September – 1 October 2006, Cardiff, UK
Hosted, co-organised and co-financed by the UK National Agency (Connect Youth)

MODULE 5: "Human Rights"  23—29 October 2006, Eisenborn, Luxembourg
Hosted, co-organised and co-financed by the Luxembourg National Agency

MODULE 6: "Role of Youth Work in Participation"  23 – 29 October 2006, Rome, Italy
Hosted, co-organised and co-financed by the Italian National Agency

Full description of the aim and objectives of the Modules and some facts and figures.

Each training module focused on one important aspect closely related to the concept and practice of European Citizenship (human rights, intercultural learning, etc.), while the methodology of the training remained the same across all modules.

* The views expressed in the conclusive report and in the annexes are those of the participants of the seminar. They do not necessarily reflect the official position of the Partnership secretariat and of the Partnership management bodies.
