Conferences and Expert Meetings took place in Brdo on 19-22 April 2008.
The directors-general meeting was an opportunity to start discussions on the new cycle of the open method of coordination (OMC) post-2009, which will provide a basis and guidelines for future youth policy. The meeting was also an opportunity to define the long-term prospects in youth policy.

In the context of preparations for a new cooperation framework in the area of youth policy, the
European Commission provided input by presenting initiatives and the ongoing process associated
with the recognition of non-formal learning and voluntary activities of young people in Europe. A
special item on the agenda was mutual learning with the help of good practices that encourage the
participation of disadvantaged young people.
