Country Information on Youth Policy
Welcome to the country information pages of the European Knowledge Centre for Youth Policy!
This section provides information about relevant youth policy issues in European countries.*
There are two ways of accessing this information:
- By selecting the country pages, you will access a collection of country-specific information on youth topics covering themes of importance to both the European Union and the Council of Europe. Country pages start with a so-called country sheet that explain youth policy structures in the given country. Furthermore, you can acces information covering:
- qualitative and statistical information on the priority themes of the EU White Paper (the country sheets and this thematic information are provided by the national EKCYP correspondents)
- statistical data on transversal youth policy themes (only available for EU-member states so far)
- results of seminars and studies organised by the COM - CoE youth-partnership
Additional in-depth information on national youth policies is available by Youth Policy Reviews; the Directorate of Youth and Sport of the Council of Europe is running a project for the evaluation of national youth policies in member States, drafted by an international expert team chaired by the Steering Committee for Intergovernmental Co-operation in the Youth Field (CDEJ). At the moment, 15 international evaluation reports are available. You can purchase them from the Council of Europe Publishing website. Two synthesis reports of these reviews can be downloaded here: "Supporting young people in Europe – Principles, policies and practice. The Council of Europe international reviews of national youth policy 1997-2001" and Volume 2 of “Supporting young people in Europe- Lessons from the ‘second seven’ Council of Europe international reviews of national youth policy" both edited by Howard Williamson, 2002 and 2007.
Additionally, a short bibliography with key titles on youth policy in the given country and complementing the information described above is under development.
For your information, you can also find the name of the relevant national EKCYP correspondent on this page (contact details available at youth-partnership@coe.int).
- By selecting a theme, you will find information on the given topic (see explanation above) covering a large number of European countries.

* Except for the Council of Europe Youth Policy Reviews (see above) the information covered by the EKCYP country files depends on the existence and engagement of national EKCYP correspondents, as well as on the coverage of research activities organised by the partnership of the European Commission and the Council of Europe in the field of youth.
